Dr. Flippo has also shown me so much grace, giving advice and allowing extended deadlines for certain assignments when my children have been sick or other major life events have happened.
During the early part of the program, I was pregnant with twins and had to deliver prematurely and spend an extended time in the NICU. Dr. Flippo called me to make sure I was doing okay and asked if there was anything I needed. Also, during one of the immersions, I met and talked with her and thanked her for checking in with me during that time, and informed her that one of the twins had passed away, and she hugged me, and we both cried together. Dr. Flippo has also shown me so much grace, giving advice and allowing extended deadlines for certain assignments when my children have been sick or other major life events have happened. I am eternally grateful for her and will never forget the compassion she showed me throughout the entire program.

I wish to nominate Renee Flippo for the DAISY Award. As an accomplished Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and dedicated educator, Renee consistently demonstrates excellence, compassion, and a strong commitment to professional growth. Renee mentors students, new faculty, and mid‑career faculty, offering encouragement, guidance, and steady support that strengthens our entire academic community. She further demonstrated her dedication to high‑quality nursing education by studying for and successfully passing the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam to better serve her learners.

In addition to her teaching and mentorship, Renee contributes meaningfully through service on multiple important committees (curriculum and clinical track promotion), always going above and beyond to support her school, colleagues, and students. Externally, she serves on the education committee for Texas Nurse Practitioners, bringing a voice for pediatric advanced practice nursing and Baylor LHSON to the state organization. She has also previously served as secretary for the Association of Faculties for Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, a national organization that provides support and national reach for pediatric nurse practitioner faculty.

Renee’s integrity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to nursing education make her truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
