He goes above and beyond to support the different units and help with whatever they need, and that is so much appreciated.
Tim has shown exceptional leadership as the nightshift AOD. He is someone whom many people can trust to make the best decisions for the organization when needed. I can think of multiple instances where he has shown advocacy and compassion not only to staff but also to patients and family members. He goes above and beyond to support the different units and help with whatever they need, and that is so much appreciated. He takes the time to explain policies and procedures and has walked me through rationales on how he handles difficult situations.
Tim routinely rounds on different units, and there are multiple instances when I am in a patient room, and he overhears the patient needing a warm blanket or a boost. He will magically appear and offer his help. If I need equipment or supplies that are not readily available, he is very willing to help me locate them when I am not having any luck finding them.
If I have concerns about a patient's admission, he has taken the time to read the patient’s chart and communicate with the logistics nurse, provider or unit sending the pt on the appropriateness of the patient admission or transfer.
Our floor had a Code Blue during the day shift that had a poor outcome, and Tim rounded and asked what he could do to help. He spent a long time talking with the patient’s primary nurse to support her emotionally and mentally, and coached her on which documentation to complete. She was very grateful for Tim taking the time to help her out.
We had a Spanish Speaking pt on the floor with questions about the patient's identity and circumstances. There were multiple family members who came in the middle of the night asking questions. Even though Tim does not speak Spanish, he took the time to sit down with the family with an interpreter to gather information and help them out.
Tim had also spent about a couple hours working with IT trying to figure out the connectivity in the tower area of the 3rd floor because the computers were very slow and calls would drop from the Whistle phones or they would show offline.
I know that AODs always show up for the codes but Tim is very hands on and involved and provides support with different codes which makes them go much smoother.
I know he has helped multiple times in figuring out staffing and allocating staff to help units so they can provide safe patient care and ensure staff safety.
Nightshift is so lucky to have Tim’s leadership, and he is such a great asset to this organization. I am very grateful for what he does.
