I would like to nominate Kim for the DAISY Award for the extraordinary, compassionate care she provided to my son during his iron infusion treatment. The procedure was lengthy, and my son was understandably anxious and fearful about the process, the needle, and being in a medical setting for so long. Kim immediately made him feel safe and valued. She treated him with the same warmth and attentiveness she would give her own child, which put him completely at ease. She went far beyond her clinical duties by personally accommodating his needs and fears. She brought games, books, and other engaging activities to keep him distracted and comfortable throughout the infusion. These thoughtful touches turned what could have been a stressful, scary experience into one where he felt cared for, entertained, and supported. She took the time to explain things in a way he could understand, reassured him gently, and checked in frequently to make sure he was doing okay emotionally as well as physically.

Because of Kim’s kindness, empathy, and extra effort, my son not only got through the treatment successfully but also felt better about the whole experience. He left feeling more confident and less afraid of future medical visits. As a parent, seeing her treat him like her own son brought me immense comfort and gratitude during a challenging time.
