I would like to take a moment to recognize Kevin, RN, for his exceptional compassion, professionalism, and dedication to patient care. While passing by room 2620 (he works on another floor), Kevin noticed a patient who was extremely agitated, confused, and in a vulnerable state, hanging onto the bed rail with the bed alarm activated. Without hesitation, he stopped to assist. He found the patient soiled with both urine and bowel movement and immediately took the initiative to provide full care. Kevin thoroughly cleaned the patient, ensured their comfort, and safely repositioned them back in bed. In addition, the patient had removed their IV line, and Kevin calmly and skillfully started a new IV, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety. I later discovered this situation, and I was truly impressed by Kevin's initiative and kindness, especially since this was my assigned patient. His willingness to step in, take full responsibility in the moment, and provide such high-quality care without being asked speaks volumes about his character and professionalism. Kevin exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding nurse. His actions reflect teamwork, empathy, and a true commitment to patient well-being. He is highly deserving of recognition and would be an excellent candidate for the DAISY Award. Thank you, Kevin, for going above and beyond.
