I would like to recognize Shimya James for her outstanding work and dedication to the team. Shimya consistently demonstrates excellence in multiple roles—as an effective Charge Nurse, an exceptional preceptor, and a compassionate bedside nurse.

Shimya brings a positive presence to the unit every day. She approaches her work with a smile, communicates clearly with both patients and colleagues, and collaborates effectively with the entire care team. Her professionalism, calm demeanor, and strong communication skills help create a supportive environment for both staff and patients.

A recent example highlights her exceptional patient care and teamwork. A patient on the unit was upset, noncompliant, and requesting pain medication beyond the provider’s order. The patient had become frustrated and was not receptive to communication from staff. Although Shimya was not the primary nurse for this patient, she stepped in to support the team. Through her compassionate approach and excellent communication, she took the time to listen to the patient, explain the plan of care, and provide appropriate choices. Her ability to connect with the patient helped de-escalate the situation and improve the patient’s cooperation with the care plan.
