Professor Childs helped me get through the hardest semester and hardest year of my life. I was at my lowest I have ever been mentally, and Professor Childs sat with me one-on-one and talked with me about struggling in nursing school and how it gets better, which she was right about. I was almost failing in two classes, but she created a plan with me to succeed in her class. Whenever I needed clarity, support, or peace of mind, I went to Professor Childs’ office. She’s made me feel okay, and she's always confident in my abilities and in my ability to push through and get things done. The confidence she has in her students, the support, and the unbelievable kindness she shows to them are nothing short of amazing. She has shown me that nursing can be amazing and a beautiful profession. She helped bring my spark back, even when I was terrified and was ready to quit. Professor Childs deserves this Daisy Award because she has all the qualities of a wonderful nurse, and I aspire to be like her someday.
