What truly sets Suzanne apart is the way she brings compassion and faith into her work.
I would like to nominate Suzanne Hicks for a Daisy award in recognition of the compassion, faith, and patient-centered dedication she brings to her role as a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist.

As Suzanne’s CDI Manager, I have the privilege of witnessing firsthand the care and purpose she brings to her work each day. Although her role is not at the bedside, Suzanne’s commitment to the mission of Loma Linda University Medical Center is deeply evident in how she approaches every chart review and interaction with the care team. She recognizes that behind every medical record is a patient and family who deserve the very best care.

Suzanne consistently keeps the patient at the center of her CDI reviews, ensuring documentation accurately reflects the severity of illness and the true clinical picture of each patient. Her work supports the care team in delivering the safest, highest-quality care possible.

What truly sets Suzanne apart is the way she brings compassion and faith into her work. In alignment with the faith-based mission of our organization, Suzanne often pauses to pray for patients and their families during her case reviews, recognizing that healing extends beyond physical illness. She also leads our team in a daily devotion, creating a meaningful moment of reflection that reminds us all why we do this work.

In a world often focused on the financial aspects of healthcare, Suzanne consistently brings the focus back to the patient. She ensures that our documentation reflects the complexity of the patients we serve so they receive the recognition, resources, and care they deserve.

Suzanne exemplifies the spirit of the DAISY Award through her compassion, advocacy, faith, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of our patients.
