She has a rare gift for helping families navigate one of life’s most difficult experiences with compassion and strength.
Brooke was assigned to care for my grandmother after she suffered a double heart attack. At the time, we honestly didn’t expect her to live through the end of the year – yet thanks to the care she received, we were blessed to celebrate her 100th birthday + 5 months.
We often teased her about how many people get a one-year chip from Hospice. My grandmother was a strong-willed, no-nonsense Sicilian woman who could spot insincerity from a mile away. From the moment Brooke walked in, the two formed a unique bond. Brooke’s genuine care and warmth earned my grandmother’s trust and friendship – no small feat.
My grandmother lived with my uncle, who can be a difficult person to interact with. Brooke handled both of them with grace, patience, and unwavering kindness. Over the course of the year, she didn’t just provide care – she truly became part of our family. Brooke was always a pillar of professionalism. My grandmother looked forward to her visits, which often brought laughter and light to her day.
One thing Brooke did particularly well was preparing my uncle for each stage of my grandmother’s journey. She provided not just medical support, but emotional guidance and reassurance when it was most needed. In the final days of my grandmother’s life, Brooke came every day – not just to check on her, but to support us as a family. It takes a truly special person to do what Brooke does. She has a rare gift for helping families navigate one of life’s most difficult experiences with compassion and strength.
Brook’s impact on our family was profound, and we are so grateful for her. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the DAISY Award.
