Her leadership style is both steady and inspiring, creating an environment where colleagues feel supported, heard, and empowered to grow.
It is my honor to nominate Terri Miller, BSN, RN, NE-BC, Director of Nursing Support Services at Goshen Health, for the IONL DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of reporting directly to Terri, and currently I have the honor of standing alongside her as a peer. In both roles, I have seen firsthand the depth of her leadership, her unwavering commitment to nursing, and the profound impact she has on our organization and the people we serve. Terri has been crucial to the success of many of Goshen Health's most significant initiatives.
In her role as Director of Nursing Support Services, she leads essential areas that directly influence both quality and patient experience, including wound and ostomy services, the float pool, house supervisors, chaplaincy, virtual nurse, and interpreter services. These functions are foundational to safe, compassionate, and equitable care, and Terri ensures they operate with excellence, reliability, and purpose.
Beyond her day-to-day operational work, Terri is the leader other leaders turn to for major projects and rapid improvement efforts. She led the implementation of virtual nursing at Goshen Health, helping transform how we support bedside care, improve efficiency, and enhance the patient and colleague experience. She was also instrumental in compiling and presenting the evidence that supported improvements to our hours per patient day, resulting in meaningful, system-wide improvements to nurse-to-patient ratios across our inpatient units. These efforts reflect her ability to connect data, practice, and people to drive lasting change.
Terri is a model of our organizational values: compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. She leads from the heart, bringing decades of experience to every interaction, decision, and challenge. Her leadership style is both steady and inspiring, creating an environment where colleagues feel supported, heard, and empowered to grow. I genuinely believe that Terri Miller's influence extends far beyond operational outcomes. Her team and everyone who has the opportunity to work with her have been positively impacted by her leadership, her integrity, and her authentic care for others. She embodies what it means to be a nurse leader who advances the profession while never losing sight of the human connection at its core. Terri is deeply deserving of recognition through the IONL DAISY Nurse Leader Award, and I am proud to submit her nomination.
