Her calm confidence and exceptional organizational skills kept both my care and the unit on track without a single compromise.
I am proud to nominate Kristin for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Leaders because she exemplifies outstanding leadership, clinical excellence, and unwavering compassion - even in the most demanding circumstances. The charge nurse role is inherently challenging, requiring constant multitasking, quick decision-making, and the ability to keep an entire unit running smoothly while supporting both staff and patients.

On the day that inspired this nomination, Kristin was not only serving as charge nurse but also assigned to my direct care. What could have been an overwhelming shift became a masterclass in graceful, effective leadership. Throughout the day, my care needs were significant and time-intensive - frequent doctor visits, extensive lab work, and multiple evolving issues that required close attention.

At the same time, Kristin was fielding constant phone calls, coordinating unit operations, and ensuring everything ran seamlessly for the entire floor. Yet she never missed a beat with my care. She stayed fully present, actively listening to my concerns, addressing each need promptly, and even going above and beyond by offering thoughtful suggestions and collaborating to work through every challenge with patience and expertise. Her calm confidence and exceptional organizational skills kept both my care and the unit on track without a single compromise.

She modeled the very best of nursing leadership: prioritizing patients while simultaneously guiding the team, managing crises, and maintaining high standards under pressure. Kristin made me feel truly cared for and safe during a difficult day, all while leading her unit with poise and professionalism. Nurse leaders like Kristin are the backbone of exceptional patient care and strong teams. Her ability to balance intense direct caregiving with charge responsibilities - without ever letting either suffer - is nothing short of extraordinary. She deserves this recognition for the inspiring leadership she brings to our unit every day.
