What makes Professor Langrehr truly exceptional is the way she models holistic nursing care—not only teaching us how to care for patients, but also reminding us of the importance of caring for ourselves
Professor Jenna Langrehr has been a constant source of encouragement, compassion, and wisdom throughout our nursing journey. From the very first day of the program, she has greeted students with a smile and created an environment where we felt supported, valued, and capable of succeeding. Her unwavering belief in her students helped shape us into competent and confident future nurses, even during the moments when we doubted ourselves most.
What makes Professor Langrehr truly exceptional is the way she models holistic nursing care—not only teaching us how to care for patients, but also reminding us of the importance of caring for ourselves. She consistently demonstrates genuine compassion in every interaction and makes herself available to students, no matter how busy her schedule may be. Whether answering questions, reviewing assignments, or simply checking in to see how we are doing, she always takes the time to listen and support us.
One of the most impactful lessons she shared was the importance of relying on the Lord during difficult moments in nursing practice. She openly spoke about times in her own career when she leaned on the Holy Spirit for strength, guidance, and peace while caring for patients in overwhelming situations. Her honesty and faith-based encouragement reminded us that nursing is not something we carry alone. Those conversations left a lasting impact on many of us and helped us approach both patient care and our own anxieties with greater confidence and trust.
Professor Langrehr also consistently demonstrated selflessness by adjusting her own schedule to lighten her students' load. Her kindness, patience, and flexibility never went unnoticed. She exemplifies what it means to be both an outstanding educator and a compassionate nurse. More than simply teaching information, she inspired us to persevere, believe in ourselves, and become nurses who lead with both skill and heart.
She truly embodies the qualities honored by the DAISY Nurse Educator Award and serves as the kind of educator every nursing student hopes to encounter.
