My husband was an inpatient, then transferred to the palliative care unit after he had become nonresponsive. It was so hard for me to decide if that was the right decision. He had advanced ALS, which is such a horrible disease.

Sam was his nurse on both units. It was such a difficult time and such hard decisions to make. Sam was so caring and helpful and spent a lot of extra time with us, answering my questions, making sure we had everything we needed, helping me to understand, and listening to all my concerns.

She also provided me with extra resources that were very helpful. It has been several months since my husband passed away, and I still see her sweet face in my mind from time to time, reassuring me and helping me through.
