His high quality of care made a huge difference in my brother’s journey to stabilization of his condition while the medical team was putting together his complex presentation of shock to determine diagnosis.
I am expressing my gratitude to Brenden for the care my brother received during his critical care admission. My brother arrived by ambulance as an acute emergent transfer from another hospital. My family is so thankful for Brenden’s professional skill and positive interactions during the distressing, critical, and unstable period of bleeding, shock, and sepsis. He performed his duties with clinical expertise and ease. My family members who are not healthcare workers were so thankful for Brenden’s masterful management of the “clothes line,” as my father called it, of infusions, transfusions, and pressors while simultaneously introducing and maintaining dialysis and intubation with vent monitoring. He handled an extremely busy evening with grace. My brother’s condition was progressively changing, and the unit was also having other emergent situations with other patients. We value Brenden’s timely decision-making with titrations and collaborations with the medical team while also being inclusive of daughters’ and sisters’ input. His high quality of care made a huge difference in my brother’s journey to stabilization of his condition while the medical team was putting together his complex presentation of shock to determine diagnosis. While I am a nurse, during the shifts when Brenden cared for my brother, I was a sister. Even more, Brenden not only had one patient but also many, including family members. He continuously offered, “Any questions, please ask,” and we were educated until we understood the “what” and “why” of each task and intervention. His transparency and explanations of each task, medication, and machine with rationale were so necessary and appreciated. He is also exemplary for making eye contact and explaining every touch and task to my brother; true patient-centered care was displayed. Brenden is an asset to this hospital and to the patients in his care. Thank you, Brenden, for your extraordinary care!
