I am delighted to recognize Dellene Nielsen as an amazing nurse leader. She shows extraordinary leadership in our units of One Day Surgery and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. She leads by example, working amongst her staff and providing constant updated information on our units and the hospital. Dellene sets herself apart from other leaders and embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award by supporting and encouraging her staff during difficult days and celebrating the wins during good times. She demonstrates her commitment to our patients by providing compassionate, competent care and sharing her knowledge and experience with her staff. Dellene is a very caring person who aims to please all of us. Her door is always open if we need to visit with her. She makes everyone in the department feel welcome and part of the team. During the holidays, she provides special treats for all the children who require surgery. Dellene is truly one of the most giving people: in knowledge, generosity, time, and self.
