Without her, I wouldn't be the future nurse I am.
Mrs. Dudley has left a profound impact on her nursing students, who describe her as one of the most supportive, kind, and dedicated educators they have ever encountered. Beyond her clinical expertise, she creates personal relationships with each student, celebrates their achievements, and consistently goes above and beyond in and out of the classroom. As one student put it, "She feels like my grandma away from home, and she is so deserving of a daisy."
For many, her belief in them has been transformative during the hardest stretches of nursing school. One student shared, "When I entered her class at the beginning of level three, I felt defeated, exhausted, and unsure if I was cut out to be a good nurse. She changed everything for me. Students also describe her as a model of compassionate, patient-centered care who shapes both their clinical practice and their character. She creates a learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions and grow, while modeling critical thinking and professional integrity. Her faith is woven throughout her teaching: she is described as God-fearing, faithful in praying for her students, and "spreading the joy of Jesus Christ."
Perhaps what students emphasize most is that her care extends well past the classroom. As one wrote, "She has never been just an educator or professor. She cares for her students beyond the classroom setting. Ms. Dudley has shown up for me in ways that I will be forever grateful for." Another summed it up simply: "Without her, I wouldn't be the future nurse I am."
Her mentorship, encouragement, and unwavering belief in her students have made her, in their words, truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
