We finally had a break with Maiyas.  As my mother’s evening shift nurse, she went above and beyond to keep my mother safe and comfortable.
The past 3 weeks have been very difficult.  Arguably, the most difficult of our lives.  We transferred from another hospital a few days ago, and the CCAD has finally allowed us to see the light at the end of this dark tunnel.  Every member of the CCAD team has operated at the highest standard and greatly advanced every aspect of my mother’s care.

Everyone from the security guard at the entrance to the chief of the ICU has been amazing, to say the least.  We finally feel that my mother has been pulled back from the edge of death and might be able to go home in the future.  21 days between two ICUs can take a toll on the strongest of us. My mother had been struggling with delirium as her body fought back septic shock.

We have been trying to mitigate her delirium using a variety of strategies: adjusting her polypharmacy, engaging with PT/OT, and family engagement.  My mother is still in the ICU, given her lab abnormalities, and while we have made efforts to reduce evening stimulation, we understand that the ICU night shift requires continuous care and monitoring.

We finally had a break with Maiyas.  As my mother’s evening shift nurse, she went above and beyond to keep my mother safe and comfortable. Stimulation was minimized without compromising safety or healthcare. She took the time to reorient my mother and address her anxieties.  She was very cordial to the family’s wishes while providing the highest level of nursing care.

This personalization of healthcare delivery is what makes CCAD stand out as a center of excellence in the region.  We are fortunate and count our blessings to be under the care of the amazing team at CCAD.
