His leadership is compassionate, empowering, and deeply impactful.
I would like to recognize my Nursing Director because he embodies humility, support, and most importantly, genuine care for his staff.

I still remember the very first time we met him. My coworkers and I were sitting in the break room after our shift when he walked in, introduced himself, and asked how we felt about working at Kaiser Antioch and what he could do to improve our experience. What stood out most was that he stayed and truly listened for more than an hour. He gave us his full attention without rushing or distractions. In that moment, we felt heard and valued.

During that conversation, he looked at me and said, “I see leadership material in you.” Those words have stayed with me. They boosted my confidence and made me feel seen in a way I will never forget.

From the moment he stepped onto our unit, positive changes followed. He empowered nurses, encouraged open dialogue, and created an environment where every voice matters. He does not just say he has an open-door policy. He demonstrates it every day through his actions.

I remember one day when I was focused on charting at my station. He stopped by and said, “I just want to say, if you need anything, let me know.” It was a simple gesture, but it reflected his consistent presence and support.

On another occasion, I was working on a project that was taking time to get approved. After I escalated it to him, he responded immediately with an email that said, “You have my full support.” He invited me to meet with him, asked what I needed, and how he could help. Because of his encouragement and advocacy, the project was implemented successfully.

For a manager to take the time to support, mentor, and advocate for their staff in this way speaks volumes about their leadership and character.

I am not the only one who feels this way. A coworker once told me that whenever you have a problem, he is there to listen and help. That is exactly how I feel about him.

He consistently creates a safe environment where staff feel comfortable speaking up, growing professionally, and striving to improve. He encourages development, supports innovation, and inspires confidence in those around him. His leadership is compassionate, empowering, and deeply impactful.

It is truly an honor to work under his guidance.
