Brittany’s passion for nursing saved this patient’s life and allowed his family to be able to say their goodbyes to their father before he ultimately passed in the ICU.
While Brittany was working in the ER, she received a transfer with a complicated medical history that at first glance seemed stable. Brittany’s dedication to patient care allowed her to really assess her patient, allowing her to recognize that the patient was down-trending, and she was able to adequately escalate his care.
She understood quickly that the patient would need ACLS protocols and calmly, efficiently, and productively gathered a code team and not only got ROSC once, but twice; all while the family was watching from next door. Brittany’s passion for nursing saved this patient’s life and allowed his family to be able to say their goodbyes to their father before he ultimately passed in the ICU.
I am so grateful to be working with nurses like Brittany, and if not for her continued dedication to patient care and her “gut feeling,” I feel as if the patient would have had a very different outcome. Brittany went above and beyond to quickly assess and treat a rapidly declining patient and saved a life.
