Through her selfless actions, Nurse Vimar reminded everyone that the role of a nurse does not end after a shift or within the four walls of a unit. It is a lifelong commitment to care, to serve, and to respond whenever duty calls.
In every hospital, there are nurses who show kindness and dedication every single day, but there are also those whose compassion extends far beyond the walls of their workplace. One such nurse is Ms. Vimar Ocampo of the Renal Care Unit, whose extraordinary act of service truly reflects the heart of the nursing profession.

For almost two years, there was a regular patient at the Renal Care Unit, receiving dialysis treatments from 2023 to 2025. Throughout that time, Nurse Vimar cared for her with the same patience, respect, and empathy she shows to all her patients.

Unknown to many, both Nurse Vimar and this patient lived in the same subdivision, a small detail that would later become meaningful in a moment that tested true dedication and compassion.

One ordinary morning, as Nurse Vimar was walking to the hospital for her scheduled duty, something unexpected happened. A vehicle suddenly stopped near her, and to her surprise, it was this patient's family. Panic was written all over their faces as they called out for help. They explained that their loved one, the patient, was unresponsive inside the car.

Without hesitation or concern for herself, Nurse Vimar immediately responded to the call for help. She quickly got into the car and assessed the situation. In those crucial seconds, she realized that her patient was in critical condition and needed immediate resuscitation.

Despite being off-duty, without any medical equipment, and still on her way to work, she began performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) while the car sped toward the AHP Emergency Room. It was a tense and emotional moment for everyone in the vehicle.

But in the middle of chaos, Nurse Vimar remained calm, focused, and steadfast. Her quick thinking and decisive action were guided by her strong sense of responsibility and compassion. She gave her all to help her patient, not because she had to, but because it was in her nature to care.

This powerful act of service deeply touched not only the patient’s family but also her colleagues in the hospital who heard about what she did. It was a living example of what it means to be a nurse, someone who answers the call to serve, even outside the confines of the hospital, and even when no one is watching.

Nurse Vimar is a person who always goes the extra mile for her patients. She is known for her gentle approach, professionalism, and genuine concern for those under her care. What she did that morning did not come as a surprise to those who knew her best; it was simply who she is: a nurse with a heart full of compassion and a spirit of service that never fades.

The patient did not survive, but her acts of kindness remain in the hearts of her family. They also went to the unit to relay their heartfelt thanks to what Ma'am Vimar has done.

Through her selfless actions, Nurse Vimar reminded everyone that the role of a nurse does not end after a shift or within the four walls of a unit. It is a lifelong commitment to care, to serve, and to respond whenever duty calls.

Her courage and kindness show how nurses can make a difference through extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence. Nurse Vimar Ocampo’s story is a shining reminder that the best nurses are not only skilled with their hands but also led by their hearts.
