She guided us on how to have my baby properly latched, how to swaddle, and how to hold my baby properly, especially to my husband, since my stitches still hurt and I still couldn’t get up.
I am a first-time mom, and I delivered my baby through an emergency C-section. Being in this state with just my husband by my side was very challenging in terms of pursuing breastfeeding for my baby. The first night was difficult. I never slept from 1:30 am until my baby arrived at 4:30 pm. There were a few miscommunications, but at 6:00 pm, Nurse Denise came into our room with a big smile and a very approachable, pleasant demeanor. She was very patient, very lenient, and never hesitated to explain and encouraged us to continue with my baby’s latching because my milk had to be stimulated before it came out. We worked from 9 pm until dawn the next day. We never stopped, and what made us continue is how nurse Denise accommodated and encouraged us with hospitality. Her positive spirit is what gave us hope to continue breastfeeding, even though my breasts don’t show any signs of milk. She guided us on how to have my baby properly latched, how to swaddle, and how to hold my baby properly, especially to my husband, since my stitches still hurt and I still couldn’t get up.
At 4:30 am, she came in and saw how tired we were from trying our best to breastfeed. Out of the kindness of her heart, she took care of our baby and fed her so we could get some sleep. She allowed us to rest, especially in my situation. I hadn't had any sleep since the operation. That moment was the longest rest we ever had. It’s something any patient will never ever forget. It’s a kind of kindness that will truly create a ripple effect.
For the most part, nurse Denise never showed us any frustration or attitude whenever we needed help. Whenever we need someone to explain something or validate whether what we’re doing is right. As first-time parents, we felt confident pursuing breastfeeding thanks to the Nurse.
Nurse Denise gave me an assurance that we were well taken care of, especially my baby, given my restless situation. The kindness that they showed gave us a good impression to tell the people we know, our family and friends, that being in Riverside or giving birth is truly worth it.
Thank you, Nurse Denise. We will never forget how you made us feel. May God bless you abundantly and exceedingly.
