My daughter had her baby recently at the Women's L&D department. We experienced exceptional care from our nurse Danielle, who went above and beyond. She truly delivered in more ways than one! She was clinically skilled and supported my daughter’s preferences for a natural labor plan. She helped keep her comfortable with interventions and made suggestions to work through the contractions. When my daughter’s condition took a turn, Danielle was acutely attuned and took quick action to intervene. She knew when to wait and when to act, giving us the comfort of knowing we were in good hands. My daughter had several issues: a tearing sensation in her abdomen that increased to an intolerable level, subsequent abnormal bleeding, a change to an epidural, epidural side effects that bottomed out pressure and baby's heart rate, one leg freezing cold and the other hot and swelling, then the baby not progressing out of the birth canal. It was a long shift that kept Danielle very busy. Danielle was more than just a skilled nurse; she also delivered compassion. We felt a deeper personal connection with her. At shift change, Danielle reported off and was relieved by the night nurse. Danielle left the room, called home to check on her kids, and came back to stay the course with my daughter. She didn't leave us until my grandbaby was delivered and my daughter was in the clear. We truly believe the successful outcome after a very challenging experience is a direct result of Danielle's care. My family and I are forever grateful for the role she played in this life-changing experience. Woman's Hospital is lucky to have Danielle. I would love to lure her over to my hospital!
