Miriam is the definition of an angel in scrubs. She has a heart of gold, and I feel so grateful to have witnessed this firsthand when my 4-year-old was under her care in the pediatric department for bronchospasm and hypoxia due to a viral respiratory infection.

During his stay there, Miriam was able to give him his first smile in days. He was not usually cooperative with his nebulizer treatments or MDI’s, but she did not give up, and she ended up being the only one with whom he did not put up a fight. When he did muster up the strength to walk around, it was to open the door to peek out at Miriam at the nurse's station because she brought him so much joy.

Miriam was not only supportive and compassionate with her patient, but also with me. I was an emotional mess since Ronan's hospitalization brought back memories and fear from his 40-day stay in the NICU after being born at 29 weeks. Miriam gave me hope and offered patience, kindness, and expertise during this stressful time, and I am forever grateful.

Her dedication and compassion did not go unnoticed to my whole family, and I'd like to thank her for being a guiding light during this challenging time.
