I was admitted as a patient to Beverly Hospital during a time of significant physical illness and emotional vulnerability. As an immigrant living alone in the United States, with my family residing abroad and close friends in other states, I did not have a personal support system nearby during this hospitalization. I became acutely ill at work to the point that I was unable to walk or care for myself and was admitted through the emergency department.

While I received good care initially, the level of compassion and attentiveness I experienced truly changed when I was transferred to the inpatient floor and Nurse Isabella was assigned as my primary nurse.

From the very beginning, Isabella demonstrated exceptional awareness, empathy, and professionalism. She immediately noticed that I was shivering and weak and, without being asked, wrapped me in warm blankets to make me comfortable. She also recognized the emotional weight I was carrying, being sick, alone, and far from family, and took the time to sit with me, speak with warmth, and lift my spirits with her genuine kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Her presence alone made a difficult situation feel lighter.

Isabella consistently went above and beyond her responsibilities. She ensured that my concerns were promptly communicated to the physician and was always proactive and attentive to my needs. She anticipated issues before they arose and made me feel safe, heard, and truly cared for.

Because of Isabella, my hospital experience felt less like being alone in a hospital bed and more like being cared for by a family member. Her kindness, warmth, and contagious smile gave me strength and hope during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. This experience will stay with me forever.

I am deeply grateful for Nurse Isabella and believe she exemplifies the very best of nursing. She is more than deserving of the DAISY Award, and I hope her exceptional compassion and dedication are formally recognized.
