Not only did she treat my granddaughter with so much love, care, and concern, but she treated all of us, our whole family, with empathy, love, and encouragement, and honestly, the best nursing care that I have ever seen.
My daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. After the baby was born via C-section, the baby was very ill and ended up coding. The baby was brought back to life, and then she was airlifted to Ascension St. Vincent Women and Infants Hospital.
Jenna was one of the first nurses that our little granddaughter had. And not only did Jenna take care of our sweet baby girl, but she also took care of my sweet baby girl. This was the first child for my daughter and my son-in-law. They were so excited to welcome their new baby into their home. But the baby was born with complications. And ended up with a severe brain injury. Jenna was an outstanding nurse. Not only did she treat my granddaughter with so much love, care, and concern, but she treated all of us, our whole family, with empathy, love, and encouragement, and honestly, the best nursing care that I have ever seen.
You see, I'm a nurse myself, and I know how taxing it can be at times, especially in times where there is uncertainty and not knowing how things are going to turn out. Unfortunately, our sweet granddaughter had severe brain damage and was unable to support her breathing, her feeding, and or her swallowing. Jenna went way out of her way to be there for all of us, especially. When we knew that our sweet granddaughter wasn't going to be long for this earth, Jenna went out of her way to make us all feel so incredibly special while providing excellent, excellent care to our sweet baby girl.
Jenna went out of her way and came in on her day off to provide her postmortem care and bath. She also made sure that my daughter and son-in-law had such sweet memories with their baby girl. Nursing is a calling. And I even think even more so for the sweet babies in the NICU. Jenna exemplified everything that a nurse is and should be.
I myself have won the yearly DAISY Award at a hospital where I worked, and it has been such an honor to wear my DAISY pin and to proudly display my statue that is given out for extraordinary nursing care. I would love to see Jenna win that award for her hospital because I don't think there's anyone more deserving. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to our story and how impactful Jenna has been in our lives. I'm sorry that I'm so emotional, but this has just been so hard for our family. But I can tell you that Jenna made it a little easier for us. I pray that you will take the words that I've said and bless Jenna today so that she can continue to bless other families just like ours. Thank you.
