Even when she was unresponsive, Brian treated her with dignity and tenderness — speaking to her softly, adjusting her blankets, and ensuring she was comfortable.
When my mother was admitted to the ICU at Williamson County Hospital, our family was overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. We had just learned that her heart had stopped, and she was placed on a ventilator. It was one of the hardest and most heartbreaking moments of our lives — and that’s when we met Brian.

From the very beginning, Brian brought a calm and compassionate presence into the room. He took time to explain what was happening in clear, gentle terms, making sure we understood every step of her care. He never spoke at us — he spoke with us, answering every question and treating us with patience and respect. What stood out most was how he cared for my mom. Even when she was unresponsive, Brian treated her with dignity and tenderness — speaking to her softly, adjusting her blankets, and ensuring she was comfortable. It was clear to him that she wasn’t just a patient; she was a person deserving of love and respect.

Brian was also there for us. He checked in often, helped us understand our options, and guided us through incredibly difficult decisions with empathy and professionalism. His presence made an unbearable situation just a little more bearable. In those final days, Brian wasn’t just our nurse — he was our support, our teacher, and our source of comfort. He showed us what true nursing is: compassion, skill, and humanity. Our family will always be grateful for the kindness and care he showed my mother and all of us who loved her. He truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award.
