Billie is a member of the PACU team. Billie was assigned to a complicated patient who had a vascular procedure.

As the recovery period progressed, the patient began showing neurological changes, which is something that is difficult to recognize after a patient receives anesthesia. Billie intervened quickly, communicated the issues to the surgeon, and was able to get the patient the testing he needed in a timely manner.

Not only did Billie provide quality care for the patient, but she was also constantly updating the family and providing them with the emotional support they needed during this stressful time.

Additionally, an IUP student was assigned to this patient, and Billie took the extra time to explain everything to him and included him in the care of this patient. Teaching during a critical time is something that can be very difficult to execute, and Billie needs recognition for this.

The PACU is very proud of Billie and wants to make sure she’s given credit for her extraordinary care!
