Not only did Kelsi provide the best clinical care to this family, but she also helped them to create a memory they will treasure forever.
Kelsi was caring for a 48-year-old gentleman who had two young daughters. They had made the most difficult decision to move to comfort care and to support his decision to be an organ and tissue donor. With about three hours’ notice, on the day leading up to his planned extubation, one of the daughters asked if Kelsi would help her have her upcoming wedding a little earlier than expected. Without hesitation, she agreed and proceeded to make a tragic situation into a beautiful opportunity for this young woman to get married while her father could take part.

Kelsi had a bouquet of flowers purchased from a local grocery store, she made sure the patient looked good in his favorite buttoned-up shirt, and she even found a way to get a balloon arch put together above his bed, all while his daughter put her wedding gown on and prepared to be married in the hospital room. Kelsi also helped to arrange for the planned first dance song to be played and made sure pictures could be taken.

Not only did Kelsi provide the best clinical care to this family, but she also helped them to create a memory they will treasure forever. Not only were Kelsi’s colleagues blown away by her care and attention to detail, but also by her poise and professionalism to ensure this young woman would be able to be married in the presence of her father.
