Although she is no longer providing direct bedside care, the impact of her leadership is felt every day by the nurses and clinicians who rely on accurate tools, reliable technology, and informed guidance to deliver safe, compassionate care.
If you are a bedside nurse who uses Epic, there is a strong chance you have been positively impacted by Laura in some way. Over the past ten years, as Eskenazi Health transitioned to Epic as its electronic health record, Laura has been deeply involved in every stage of the journey. She has served as a trainer, analyst, clinical informaticist, and now as the Clinical Informatics Supervisor.
Her extraordinary institutional knowledge—combined with her Emergency Nursing background—has enabled her to excel in this evolving and critical specialty. Laura has an exceptional ability to understand how clinical practice and technology intersect, consistently advocating for patient safety and speaking up whenever something does not align with safe, high‑quality care.
Most recently, Laura played a key leadership role in the Ascom phone replacement project and the transition to the new e‑phones. Her tenacity, organization, and calm leadership guided not only her own team but countless others through a complex operational change. Her ability to anticipate workflow needs, problem‑solve quickly, and clearly communicate expectations was nothing short of remarkable.
I am incredibly proud of Laura and have been honored to watch her grow professionally over the past several years. Although she is no longer providing direct bedside care, the impact of her leadership is felt every day by the nurses and clinicians who rely on accurate tools, reliable technology, and informed guidance to deliver safe, compassionate care. Much of her work happens behind the scenes, and it is often a thankless role—but I want her to know how deeply valued and appreciated she is.
Laura embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Her commitment, expertise, and dedication to the nursing profession make her truly deserving of this recognition.
