She knows each patient personally, and she’s always so detail-oriented.
Skylar is such an amazing resource for us. She cares deeply about our patients and always goes out of her way to provide the best care possible. She helps us troubleshoot when difficult situations arise. She knows each patient personally, and she’s always so detail-oriented. Overall, a wonderful nurse who goes above and beyond.

Skylar goes above and beyond with everyone she works with. If it’s with other nurses, medical assistants, and Fellows, she always does it with a smile on her face. No matter how tough the task may be, and believe me, she has had some tough tasks to do, especially with hematology patients. She is always a pleasure to work with.

Very swiftly arranges all appointments. Gets records and expedites patient work. Arranged Midostaurin for our inpatient patient while working from MCI.

We had a patient call the clinic seeking assistance that required her primary care provider’s help, but she is severely hard of hearing. Skylar wasn’t worried about being backed up on other work she had to do, even though it was the first day back after a holiday. She took the time to call the patient’s primary care provider for help. Skylar is always a hands-on nurse. She’s amazing and very good to work with.

To say Skylar goes above and beyond is an understatement. She is compassionate and takes pride in providing exceptional care for our cancer patients. She has a genuine concern for patients beyond her role. In one instance, she noticed a patient was struggling to remember to take his chemotherapy medications at home. She bought a pill box for him out of her own generosity, labeled it, and helped him set up a system to keep him on track at home. This is just one instance among countless others, such as always demonstrating kindness to our patients and their families. She embodies the spirit of nursing and the values of the DAISY Award, and I cannot think of anyone else more deserving of this recognition.

Skylar is always willing to help. She always says, “Yes” when asked. She is so valuable to her team and to her fellow co-workers. Our nurse was drowning in work one day, and Skylar stepped up and gave her a helping hand. She did everything with a smile.

Recently, a patient was found to have an acute hematologic illness in the hospital. Despite logistical difficulties, Skylar was instrumental in obtaining the medication critical to the patient’s treatment in a timely manner.
