Violet Brickner is an exceptional nominee for a DAISY Award. I have watched Violet learn and grow into the nurse she is through various roles in her nursing journey. I met Violet when she completed an SNI program at UPMC Altoona in the summer of 2025, and she continued working there through the fall and winter as a patient care technician. At the beginning of 2026, I had the opportunity to teach her in her clinical course at SFU. Violet has grown so much in the short time that I have known her, and her interactions with patients are genuine and caring. Violet treats and cares for her patients and their families the way in which I would want my own family to be cared for. She is capable of caring for and bonding with even the most difficult patients, who think highly of her and always compliment her on being the great nurse she is. Twice, Violet and I were assigned a patient who came to the hospital because she fired her home caregivers and was a difficult patient to care for and sometimes get along with but the patient couldn't have been more complimentary of the care that she received from Violet and during the second time that we were assigned to take care of her she remembered Violet from her previous visit and was happy and thankful to be taken care of by her another time. Violet is gentle with her patients, thorough with her care, and eager to continue thriving as a nurse, and I look forward to continuing to work with her in her nursing career.
