I am proud to nominate RN Jaritza for the DAISY Award for her outstanding compassion, skill, and presence during a critical moment of patient care.  We recently upgraded a very ill patient to Jaritza’s care—someone who was rapidly deteriorating and in urgent need of a thoracentesis.

The patient was extremely anxious and frightened about the procedure, struggling to manage both his physical symptoms and overwhelming fear.  Jaritza immediately recognized his distress and stepped in with remarkable calm and empathy.  She patiently held the patient throughout the entire thoracentesis, providing steady physical and emotional support.

Her soothing presence and gentle reassurance helped ease the patient’s anxiety and build a vital sense of trust at a moment when he felt most vulnerable.  Because of Jaritza’s calm demeanor and unwavering support, the patient allowed the team to perform the procedure safely and effectively—something he may not have done without her by his side.  
 
Jaritza’s actions are a powerful reminder of how impactful a nurse’s presence can be.  Her commitment to not just treating the illness, but caring for the whole person, truly made a difference that day.  She exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her on our team.
