Her care made a difference when it mattered most, and I will always be grateful for the role she played in my healing.
During a nine-day period that included three major surgeries, I was surrounded by many skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals who provided excellent care. However, it was Neosha, my nurse in the ICU during the three most critical days following my final surgery, who truly went beyond anything I could have expected and left a lasting impact on my recovery and my heart.
Those ICU days were the most fragile and frightening of my entire experience. My body was exhausted from repeated surgeries, and I was in a state of deep physical pain, emotional strain, and mental distress. Time felt compressed, overwhelming, and uncertain. In the middle of that vulnerability, Neosha became a steady, calming presence, someone who made an environment that can feel intimidating and impersonal feel safe, human, and compassionate.
Neosha's outstanding nursing expertise was evident in everything she did. She asked the right questions, anticipated concerns before I could voice them, and demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexity of my condition. What stood out most was not just her clinical skill, but her follow-through. She didn't simply check boxes or move on to the next task. She returned, followed up, and ensured that every concern, no matter how small, was addressed with intention and grace. That level of attentiveness gave me a sense of security during a time when I felt completely dependent on others.
Her demeanor never changed, even during moments when I was exhausted, discouraged, or struggling emotionally. Neosha is soft-spoken, calm, and deeply caring. She listened, truly listened, and never made me feel rushed or overlooked. She spoke to me with respect and dignity, treating me not as "the patient in the bed," but as a person who mattered. In moments when I felt overwhelmed, her presence alone brought comfort.
During those three ICU days, Neosha became more than my nurse. She felt like a beloved family member who genuinely wanted me to heal, not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well. Her compassion reminded me that I was not alone during one of the most difficult chapters of my life. She carried herself with humility, professionalism, and a kindness that cannot be taught, only lived.
Neosha exemplifies everything the nursing profession stands for. She combines exceptional clinical skill with authentic empathy, creating care that is not only effective but deeply meaningful. Her ability to maintain such a high level of compassion in an ICU setting, where nurses are overworked, stretched thin, and often underappreciated, speaks volumes about her character and dedication.
The nursing community deserves recognition, and Neosha represents the very best of it. She embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award through her unwavering commitment to excellence, her compassionate heart, and the profound impact she has on the lives of those she cares for.
Her care made a difference when it mattered most, and I will always be grateful for the role she played in my healing.

I was present at the ICU during a hospitalization of my friend at the end of a 9-day period that included three major surgeries. During that time, I had the opportunity to observe many skilled nurses doing important work. Neosha's care, however, stood apart in a way that was impossible to miss, especially during the three days my friend spent in the ICU following the final surgery.
The ICU can feel overwhelming even for those simply sitting at the bedside. Machines, constant activity, and uncertainty create an environment where fear and exhaustion settle in quickly. Neosha entered that space with a calm that immediately changed the atmosphere. She did not raise her voice or rush her movements. Instead, she brought steadiness, clarity, kindness, and intention into every interaction.
What impressed me first was Neosha's clinical presence. She asked thoughtful, well-timed questions and clearly understood the complexity of my friend's condition after multiple surgeries in such a short span. Just as important, she followed through. When something was mentioned, it was not forgotten. She came back, checked again, and made sure concerns were addressed. That consistency built trust in an environment where trust matters deeply.
Equally powerful was Neosha's compassion. I watched her speak gently and listen fully, even when time was limited, and the unit was busy. She treated my friend with dignity during moments of extreme vulnerability when physical pain, emotional strain, and mental fatigue were constant. Neosha never appeared distracted or impatient. Her tone remained steady and kind, offering reassurance without minimizing the seriousness of the situation.
Over those ICU days, Neosha became more than the nurse assigned to the room. She felt like someone who genuinely cared about who my friend was as a person, not just as a patient recovering from surgery. Her presence brought comfort not only to my friend but also to me as someone watching a loved one struggle and heal.
Nursing today is demanding, exhausting, and often underrecognized. From what I witnessed, Neosha represents the very best of the profession, exceptional skill paired with deep humanity. She brought competence, empathy, and grace into one of the most difficult moments of my friend's life, and that made a lasting difference.
Her care mattered. It was felt, and it deserves to be recognized.
