Tanisha came in and checked on me! Even though she wasn’t even on that unit that shift, and I’m sure she was busy that day as well.
Tanisha received me from the ER right around shift change, time for her to go home. She came in and set me up with everything I needed and made sure to answer all my questions. I needed something done that she could have easily passed on to the night shift, but she chose to stay after her shift and do it herself. She made me and my family very comfortable, and we felt blessed to have such a special nurse care for me! She left that night around 7:40 from my room,
so I can only imagine when she actually left work that night. She treated me as a person with the utmost compassion, not as an inconvenience that came at the end of her already busy shift.
The next day, she was floated to another unit, but saw my family in the cafeteria and asked how I was doing, and said that she would find time to come and visit me. I was so excited to hear that. Later that afternoon, Tanisha came in and checked on me! Even though she wasn’t even on that unit that shift, and I’m sure she was busy that day as well. As a nurse myself, I was not expecting this, and was blown away that there are still nurses who I want to be like myself, nurses who care and go the extra mile. She made something not enjoyable, the best she could. She was such a light in my hospitalization.
