Throughout my stay, she demonstrated a remarkable combination of clinical competence, empathy, and genuine dedication.
I would like to nominate Amy for the DAISY Award. I have been through many treatments over the years, including two years of cancer treatment, and I was discharged from the hospital yesterday after undergoing a DIEP reconstruction. Amy cared for me on my second and fourth postoperative days, and she was outstanding in every possible way. On one of the most vulnerable days of my recovery, Amy gave me a bed bath. I never imagined I would need this level of support at my age, but they made me feel completely at ease. Amy made me feel as comfortable as if I were with an old friend, even though we had only just met. Her kindness, dignity, and professionalism meant more to me than I can express. Amy consistently went out of her way to keep me comfortable and to support my husband as well. She was compassionate, attentive, and endlessly patient. When I struggled with fainting, she worked tirelessly and gently to help me get out of bed safely. Throughout my stay, she demonstrated a remarkable combination of clinical competence, empathy, and genuine dedication. I have had many interactions with nursing staff during multiple surgeries and years of cancer treatment, but Amy stands out in every way. She is truly an asset to the team at LRI, and you are incredibly lucky to have her. Message to Amy, Thank you for everything you did for me. You are amazing, and you changed my experience for the better. It brings tears to my eyes to think about how invested you were in my care and well-being, always with such grace and a positive, “can-do” attitude. I will be forever grateful.
