During my Nan’s recent hospital stay, Donna, one of the Victoria wards' clinical sisters, went above and beyond to support her. My sister was getting married, and it was incredibly important to our family that Nan could feel part of the day, even though she was unwell. Donna took the time to prepare my Nan for the occasion with such care and compassion. She thought of every detail, making use of George Elliot’s chapel facilities, making sure Nan looked and felt her best, and that she could share in the joy of the celebrations with our family during this special day. What touched us most was her thoughtfulness and the personal touches she added; it wasn’t just about clinical care, but about truly seeing Nan as a person and honoring what mattered to her. Because of Donna’s kindness, my Nana felt included, joyful, and dignified on a day that meant so much to our whole family. We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, creativity, and genuine warmth she showed. Donna exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for.
