I had to promptly bring my husband into CCF Weston's ER after receiving a call from his neurologist to make our way to be seen and admitted. All of this news happened in the late afternoon, as I had happened to be on call in the IR department as a nurse for the day as well.

In the ER with my husband, already overwhelmed by everything that was happening, a brain attack was called, and I was on NIR call. I had to leave my husband in the ER to make my way over to take care of the stroke patient. Shortly after starting the case, Laura came back from recovering another patient and came into the brain attack, telling me to leave and go be with my husband and that she was taking over, and taking my call for the rest of the night to be with my husband and take care of myself.

Laura was so caring to come and think of my husband and me during a stressful time, and immediately just take my call like that, and it truly meant the world. Even after the long workday she had and after taking over that long case so late in the day, she came to check on us on the floor after he was admitted. Laura is and always has been so caring and compassionate to not only her patients but also her coworkers, and I can say that I am truly thankful to know that she is on our team.
