My husband had a brain hemorrhage and was in the Neuro ICU. While all the care in the unit was outstanding, I sincerely believe that our nurse, Leslie, played a major role in his recovery, allowing him to be moved to acute care.

Her attitude was always positive, no matter how trying the situation, and her compassion for me was heartfelt. Her willingness to think outside the box to find a solution for my husband's discomfort was literally the turning point for the beginning of his improvement. Instead of tightening restraints or adding more, she found a way to keep him safe while removing the mitts that were causing his agitation. Once that happened, he was able to sleep some and eat more, which made the difference.

When Leslie came into his room and found him smiling, she said it “made her heart sing,” and her joy was genuine, and it showed. We were blessed to have her take care of us for three days, and I truly believe Leslie was our earthly guardian angel, and I will forever be grateful.
