Alisha brings calm to the ED. She can be trusted, and she is fair. She encourages open communication in real time and keeps sensitive conversations confidential. She cheers on those furthering their education and advocates for scheduling that allows staff to be able to attend classes.

Alisha has many team members asking questions and needing help because she is an assistant manager. Alisha always handles the chaos of the department with peace, joy, and love. Alisha is available 24/7 without fail. She has come in on her nights "off" to help decompress the unit and take some of the work burden off already stressed staff. In the ED, you never know what the next crisis or chaotic situation will be.

Alisha deals with each situation with calmness and confidence. Alisha is quick to find answers and includes staff in the problem-solving process. There was a case of a critically ill child whose parents refused to allow air transport. Delay in getting the patient to a higher level of care could have caused death. Alisha contacted DCS, and the patient was transported by air.

Alisha seeks to be fair. She has the team asking her questions, texting her, sending her emails, etc. She never makes us feel like we are a bother or gets grouchy when she’s tired. I trust her to advocate for us in fairness. She advocates for fair staffing and assists in scheduling staff who are students to accommodate their schooling. When I was a brand-new tech on the floor, Alisha was one I trusted to help me when I felt like I was drowning. If I were afraid that someone was going to “throw me under the bus,” Alisha always showed compassion. Alisha’s compassionate leadership is the main reason I am nominating her.

My husband and my oldest son were both admitted patients at our hospital during the week of Christmas. Alisha organized cooking a Christmas dinner for my family (15 people in all) and handled delivering to my house shortly after my husband got home on Christmas Eve. She had asked what could be done to help my family, and I, being the independent person I am, kept telling her I was ok. However, that kind gesture meant so much and took so much stress off me. She truly listens and "reads between the lines". She listens without judgment and allows space to just vent.
