She remained accessible, responsive, and attentive not only to my baby’s medical needs but to my emotional needs as a mother.
I would like to nominate this incredible PICU nurse for the DAISY Award for the care she provided to my 1-year-old daughter during her admission for RSV. Having your baby in the PICU struggling to breathe is one of the scariest experiences a parent can face.

During such a vulnerable time, she became more than just our nurse; she became our comfort and reassurance. From the moment she entered the room, she showed extraordinary compassion and professionalism. She explained everything clearly and calmly, making sure I understood what was happening and why.

She created an environment of trust where I felt safe asking questions and expressing my fears. I never once felt dismissed or rushed. She also cared about our whole family. My 4-year-old daughter was in and out of the room, worried about her baby sister. She took the time to talk to her, acknowledge her feelings, and make her feel included. That meant more to me than she probably knows.

In the little time I was around her, I genuinely felt like I had gained a friend. She was warm, approachable, and real in a way that made such a heavy situation feel lighter. She remained accessible, responsive, and attentive not only to my baby’s medical needs but to my emotional needs as a mother. I could see how she worked collaboratively with the team, encouraged thoughtful discussions about care, and upheld the highest standards of nursing practice. She truly models compassion, ethical practice, teamwork, and excellence in nursing.
