Gail demonstrated exceptional dedication and compassion while advocating for a patient who was struggling to obtain a medically necessary MRI after discharge.

The patient reached our office after multiple attempts to schedule the MRI were unsuccessful. Although Neurology had placed an outpatient order, the test was canceled because the patient’s cardiac device had not been cleared. Electrophysiology could not sign the clearance form since the device had been implanted by an outside provider, leaving the patient and family overwhelmed and without clear direction.

The patient’s son-in-law contacted our office after several failed attempts to resolve the issue. The family expressed how important it was to have the MRI completed at Northwestern Medicine to avoid the hardship of traveling to Rockford.

Gail immediately stepped in and took ownership of the situation. She reached out to the Manager of NM Cardiology to request assistance and advocated for a cardiologist to review the case and provide the necessary cardiac device clearance.

Once clearance was obtained, she continued to go above and beyond, coordinating with the patient’s PCP to ensure a new, timely referral was entered and working closely with Radiology to secure the MRI appointment.

Thanks to Gail’s persistence, communication, and advocacy, the patient finally received the imaging they needed without added stress or delays. Her actions truly reflect compassionate, patient-centered care.
