What set Cameron apart most was her humanity. She showed genuine kindness during moments when we were emotionally overwhelmed, offering reassurance, compassion, and steady support when we needed it most.
We would like to recognize Cameron, our son’s Pediatric ICU nurse, for the extraordinary care, compassion, and advocacy she showed during one of the most frightening times of our lives.
Our son was critically ill with COVID and has complex medical needs. His condition deteriorated to the point where he required intubation, and we were terrified, not only for his life, but because we felt so helpless as parents in the ICU environment.
From the very beginning, Cameron treated our son not as a diagnosis or a task, but as a child deeply loved by his family. Cameron’s clinical skill and calm presence were exceptional. She anticipated problems before they arose, explained every step of care with clarity and patience, and never made us feel like our questions or fears were an inconvenience. When our son was intubated and unable to speak for himself, Cameron became his voice, advocating for his comfort, dignity, and safety at every turn.
What set Cameron apart most was her humanity. She showed genuine kindness during moments when we were emotionally overwhelmed, offering reassurance, compassion, and steady support when we needed it most. She treated our family with respect and empathy, and her presence brought us comfort during long, uncertain hours in the PICU.
Because of Cameron’s dedication, professionalism, and deep compassion, we trusted that our son was in the best possible hands. Her care made an unbearable experience more manageable and left a lasting impact on our family.
Cameron truly embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for, and we are forever grateful for the care she provided our son and our family.
