She just knew I needed her to walk with me, not physically, but emotionally. She filled me with strength and courage!
Everyone that I came across at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas was wonderful, but my nurse, Victoria, really stood out in a way I couldn’t ever forget! She was so gentle and understanding with me! I was doing well after my C-section. I thought I was okay, and then out of nowhere, I just couldn’t handle it all. I had hit a weak point! I couldn’t understand everything, and I just felt so down. I didn’t want to cry in front of my newborn daughter or my spouse. I wanted to be strong. I walked out of my room, said I needed a walk to the family nutrition room alone. I walked slowly, holding in my tears as long as I could, and in that minute of silence, I bumped into Victoria by accident. She could tell I was ready to burst. I knew I didn’t wanna be alone and that I was scared! Scared of not being strong enough, she walked with me. She just knew I needed her to walk with me, not physically, but emotionally. She filled me with strength and courage! She spoke words that I needed to hear! That everything was going to be okay and that I would soon feel better and stronger and feel like myself! I'll never forget Victoria R! She continued to take care of me the rest of the shift. She mentioned she had a day off and that she would be back on Tuesday! I had more complications with my C-section recovery, and I did end up staying until Tuesday! She came in and checked on me even though she wasn’t my nurse that shift! I felt like she was a long-lost friend I’ve known for years! I’ll always remember her! She has the prettiest smile, the softest hands, and such a sweet essence!
