For months, Mandy has met with senior leadership, entered RLS solutions VOICE reports, and in every way possible, relentlessly pursued improving the patient parking experience for our patients.
Mandy created an amazing change for our department and Saint Alphonsus as a whole by obtaining PAT/PSS parking spaces for the pre-surgical patients.

The patients coming to see us in the PAT/PSS Department are often significantly debilitated geriatric patients. They regularly have cardiac issues combined with the need for joint replacements and/or other major surgeries. These conditions make it difficult, and sometimes impossible, for the patients to walk long distances. This length of walking has led to exacerbations of conditions and comorbidities.

Parking at Saint Alphonsus in Boise is a challenge for all visitors and patients; however, it is especially difficult for our patients. Many patients have complained that there are not enough handicapped parking spots available, and they lament the removal of the valet parking service.

Mandy has taken these issues to heart and has relentlessly pursued change, improving things for all! Prior to the change in policy regarding creating specialty parking spots, Mandy transported countless patients in wheelchairs to and from their vehicles for long distances and assisted them in and out of vehicles. Her concern and focus have been on the safety and comfort of the patients.

Saint Alphonsus has launched the new "Bring It" slogan, but some patients simply can't "bring it" because they cannot walk the long distances, and when they try, they are in danger. However, Mandy took the "Bring It" slogan to heart long before the slogan was launched by meeting patients at their vehicles and taking them back out in a wheelchair. She has ensured our patients are met with love and kindness, erasing the sense of hopelessness many feel at the seemingly insurmountable task of just making it to our department.

For months, Mandy has met with senior leadership, entered RLS solutions VOICE reports, and in every way possible, relentlessly pursued improving the patient parking experience for our patients. Admittedly, I had lost hope that there would be a satisfactory resolution, but she persevered, and the change was made. Imagine my surprise and delight when I heard the announcement that the senior leadership will create special parking for the PAT/PSS patients! Her strength, determination, and resilience are inspirational.

It is with much admiration for her efforts that I submit this nomination for my friend and leader, Mandy Gibbs, RN.
