He takes the time to teach and guide others in a patient and respectful manner, fostering confidence in his peers.
Kevin consistently demonstrates an exemplary attitude, eagerness to learn, and genuine kindness toward patients and peers alike. He not only provides attentive care to his assigned patients, but also frequently goes above and beyond to assist classmates and support patients who are not formally assigned to him. He approaches every opportunity to learn or help with humility and enthusiasm. He takes the time to teach and guide others in a patient and respectful manner, fostering confidence in his peers. One instance that resonated with his classmate occurred when Kevin noticed a patient walking alone in the hallway. Without hesitation, Kevin approached the patient to assess her safety. He calmly asked if she was feeling lightheaded or dizzy. When she said she felt slightly weak, he walked beside her and escorted her safely back to her room. Kevin’s response was instinctive and rooted in vigilance and compassion. He did not view the patient as “someone else’s responsibility,” but rather as a person in need of care.

Another example of Kevin’s compassion is evident when he was assigned to care for an unhoused patient who was resisting to shower. A nurse had previously been unable to persuade the patient to wash up, but Kevin expressed his determination to help the patient feel clean and dignified. Kevin approached the patient with kindness, patience, and respect. By taking the time to speak to her calmly, giving her space to feel comfortable, and offering gentle assistance, the patient was able to clean themselves. His approach restored not only her hygiene but also her dignity. Kevin embodies what it truly means to “put people first.” Whether assisting a vulnerable patient, supporting a peer during a new skill, or stepping in to ensure patient safety, he consistently demonstrates compassion, accountability, and leadership beyond his level of training.
