Marilyn Holland of the Podiatry Clinic is to be recognized for her outstanding care above and beyond for our veteran patients. Just this morning, she noticed our patient, who came in for a routine appointment, had unsteady walking, bent over, and slurred speech.

Because of her strong nursing abilities and perception, we brought him immediately to the emergency room. A stat brain CT showed a brain bleed. Her quick evaluation saved his life. Also, she comes in every morning at 0600 to round with the vascular department, which is something she is not expected to do. She provides administrative and clinical support to Dr. J, the foot surgeon applying Wound VAC therapy, as well as other medical devices.

She is a dynamic nurse who seeks every opportunity to broaden her nursing knowledge and is an exemplar of the I CARE HRO CREDO.
