I would like to nominate Chalyn Conary for a DAISY Award. There are multiple reasons why I could nominate her. From her care for my sister to the attentiveness she has shown my family and me since my sister was transferred to our facility, today, takes the cake. Chalyn was asking my niece if she was ready for Christmas while in my sister's room, my niece said "kind of." My sister's situation is hard on all of us, but her daughter is obviously affected in a way no one in my family can imagine. Chalyn heard this and said, "Absolutely not." She went and found a Christmas tree, stripped it of its decorations, and took it to my sister's room so my niece could decorate it with her mom one more time. That meant more to me, and definitely my family, than we could ever express. Being in the hospital is hard enough, but being a kid with your mom in the hospital during the holidays is that much harder, and having Chalyn as my sister's nurse today helped to bring the holidays to them in a special way.
