If Amelia were with another patient, she would always stop in, even though they told her I was ok.
I stayed at Tacoma General for 5 days for a video EEG, which consists of staying here for 5 days with leads on my head tethered to the wall. Unable to get out of bed for any reason without someone assisting me.
Amelia was my RN for my nights here. Being here meant that an alarm would go off if there was any seemingly like activity. If my alarm went off some one would come and check on me.
If Amelia were with another patient, she would always stop in, even though they told her I was ok. I am aware my stay here is minor compared to others; however, I was still scared and bored.
Not one time did Amelia pass off anything I needed to a CNA. Something as simple as needing to use the restroom, she was here.
When I would get so hot due to my condition, she even went and got something and fanned me off. She stood right beside me, fanning me. She asked me about ice pack etc., but the paper fans work better for me.
She made me laugh when she could see I needed it. She was generally concerned about my care. Not just physical but also mental.
People don’t understand how alone and scared it is for 5 days and nights with no one but staff. She took time to get to know me as a person, not just a patient.
Someone would say that is her job, ok, but she went above that, and I want the world to know Amelia is here.
