Despite extreme heat (over 90 degrees) and the physical challenge involved, Kylie walked the family member in a wheelchair because she had no transportation available and did not want her to be left without support.
Kylie demonstrated extraordinary compassion and dedication when she personally escorted a patient’s family member—who is also a patient at Western Peaks—back to her facility after visiting her husband in the ICU. Despite extreme heat (over 90 degrees) and the physical challenge involved, Kylie walked the family member in a wheelchair because she had no transportation available and did not want her to be left without support. This act was entirely selfless and far beyond what is expected of a nurse.
Kylie consistently shows genuine care for both patients and their loved ones. She recognizes that nursing extends beyond clinical tasks and understands the emotional and human side of healthcare. Her willingness to go above and beyond, even in difficult circumstances, truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award and reflects the very best of our profession.
