Tony goes above and beyond for the patients in the 6 ICU. It is honestly difficult to articulate just how great he is. Tony works diligently to ensure patients have an appropriate discharge plan and communicates clearly with the team about that plan. His greatness goes beyond his case management role.

As a caregiver, Tony will do just about anything to help his patients. If he is in a room and a patient needs to be repositioned, his response is never, "Let me get your nurse," he jumps right in and repositions the patient. If a patient calls out, he addresses the patient's needs immediately. Tony is a true team player.

Tony took time out of his day to shave the head of a cancer patient who was upset about losing their hair; this act of kindness meant so much to the patient. In another instance, a patient was upset that, after a long illness, their hair was tangled and matted, and the nursing staff could barely brush it. He went out and purchased detangler for the patient, and the nurse was then able to comb through her hair.

The care Tony provides and his overall collaboration with the 6 ICUs are why he is so deserving of this DAISY Award.
