My 50-year-old daughter was admitted with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. She has a history of peripartum cardiomyopathy, which had been stable for 15 years. She was placed on the cardiac ICA unit, and Jen was her nurse for 4 days. Jen went out of her way to put all of us at ease. She explained things simply and thoroughly and provided excellent clinical care throughout the entire 4 days. Most especially, I had inquired of the cardiologist about whether my daughter would qualify for social security disability and a handicapped placard. He informed me she would certainly qualify. In a short time, Jen had completed a parking placard application, including the physician’s signature, and had included the information to apply for SS disability benefits in the discharge paperwork. This showed incredible dedication. Jen is not only smart and caring, but she also does the nitty-gritty work that helps my daughter in pragmatic ways that are very beneficial to her future well-being. Jen has a marvelous, genuine personality, and it is obvious that she loves her job and helping people. What an asset she is to the Rush-Copley team. I hope the administration recognizes her dedication in a meaningful way. She deserves recognition for her caring service.
